This is Jordan Pickford’s ‘’horrendous’’ pre-match music playlist
In a recent episode of BBC’s Football Daily Podcast, the English squad revealed which songs they’ve been listening to on repeat. Cole Palmer’s favourite tune at the moment is ‘Choppa’ by Lil Baby and Byron Messia. Bukayo Saka’s been listening Tems’ ‘Love Me Jeje’. England and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, however, has a diverse music taste that is not liked by all of his teammates. ‘’I’m not even in charge of the music but there is one song that Pickford puts on,’’ began Kieran Trippier. ‘’He’s into rave music, Pickford. Pickford’s music is horrendous.’’ Recently, Pickford shared his current warm-up playlist on Apple Music, and revealed why he loves some of these tunes.

‘Pretty Green Eyes’ by Ultrabeat
Ultrabeat is a British electronic dance music group from Liverpool. Their song ‘Pretty Green Eyes’ became a hit in 2003. ‘’I’m good friends with Ian Redman, who is in Ultrabeat, and I’ve always loved this song. He actually came and DJed at my wedding.’’
‘My My My’ by Armand van Helden
This song by the American house DJ and producer Armand van Helden reminds Pickford of his brother. ‘’It’s his favourite of all time. Every time I hear it anywhere, I always give him a ring.’’
‘Sit Down’ by James
James’ song ‘Sit Down’, which is also the template of Salah’s song at his city rival Liverpool, reminds Pickford of when he was a kid. ‘’This takes me back to my cousin’s house when we were little. Playing pool, we used to sing this song when someone got knocked out playing killer.’’
‘Sweet Caroline’ by Neil Diamond
‘Sweet Caroline’ is somewhat of a national anthem in the UK. ‘’It just brings back memories of the Euros in 2021 and the whole crowd singing the song with us when we got to the final.’’
‘I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues’ by Elton John
This song by Elton John might not be his most famous, but is one of Pickford’s favourites. ‘’I had to put this in. It’s a great song but also from one of my favourite shows, Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere. The scene gets me every time when Paddy comes in with the harmonica.’’
‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran
‘’My wedding song with Megan, this was our first dance,’’ revealed Pickford. The goalkeeper married Megan Davidson in 2022. They have been in a relationship since he was fourteen years old and they also have a son and daughter together. ‘’If I don’t put this in, I’ll be in the bad books,’’ jokes Pickford.
‘L’Amour Toujours’ by Gigi D’Agostino
This song by the Italian DJ and music producer Gigi D’Agostino is Pickford’s favourite stadium track. ‘’Gets me in the zone and bring back memories of growing up.’’
The rest of Pickford’s playlist has songs from artists such as the Arctic Monkeys, Billy Joel, and Lange. Not that bad if you were to ask us, but you judge for yourself: Is Pickford’s music as horrendous as Trippier says?
