Sami Khedira reveals how Cristiano Ronaldo changed Juventus’ changing room
Former German footballer Sami Khedira recently revealed how Cristiano Ronaldo changed Juventus, and in particular Federico Chiesa, in an interview with former Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand on Five UK. Khedira, who played five seasons with the Portuguese superstar at Real Madrid and three at Juventus, is a big fan of the way his former teammate went about his business. ‘’He’s always been a competitive guy, but also really friendly, nice, and humble guy in my point of view.’’

‘’Cristiano of course has his ego,’’ said Khedira. ‘’But when he came to Juventus, Federico Chiesa was a fantastic young player.’’ The German then describes the moment when Chiesa walked into the gym with his phone in his hand. ‘’Cristiano looked at him like: What are you doing? Where are you going Fede? He [Chiesa] was like I’m going to the gym.’’ Ronaldo then responded: ‘’With your phone? Listen you don’t need your phone. Go in the gym and work. Don’t do Instagram, don’t do any TikTok. Focus on your work.’’ According to Khedira, Federico Chiesa quickly agreed and was in awe of the conversation.
But Cristiano Ronaldo did not just make an impact on Federico Chiesa, but also on the quality of training at Juventus revealed Khedira. ‘’Even the quality of training, when he came to Juventus, was like a different level afterwards.’’ He reveals how every single shot on target needed to be scored and how the loser would buy a bottle of wine or a dinner for the winner. ‘’He’s always like a competitive guy, but also a really friendly, nice, and humble guy in my point of view.
During Khedira’s time at Juventus, he also fell in love with espresso, which inspired him to start his own coffee brand after his football career.
